An American and a Dane

Foust and Linnemann take poles.

Tanner Foust was again fastest, and lines up for pole of the Supercar A final. He had a clean race, jokering early getting his head down to set fastest time. It’s an OMSE front row, Andréas Eriksson set second time and is second. Third on the grid is Timur Timerzyanov, and making order look like an entry list Liam Doran lines up fourth. The young Brit lead his race until the last lap when an early jokering Eriksson passed him by a whisker on the last tour.

Sverre Isachsen is no stranger to being on pole, and he is again here, only this time in the B final. He again won his race on track, but just wasn’t fastest enough to drag himself into the A final.

Marc Laboulle jumped the first start of his race and made a hash of his second, the Frenchman not having a weekend to emulate that of his run at Lydden Hill, ending up in the C final. He is better off than Toomas Heikkinen however, who does not have two times and has failed to qualify even with only 16 starters. He got excluded from heat three for pushing Laboulle on the last lap. Andy Scott had a better run than in heat two and lines up in the on the back of the grid in the B final, an encouraging start position for the Scottish driver.

Ulrik Linnemann was fastest in heat three and claims pole position in S1600 for the first time. Johan Larsson had a better run to get second fastest time and claims second on the grid of the A final. Barkkerud could only manage fourth fastest time, and again this reflects in his grid position of fourth. David Johansson had another good run, collecting third time and making his place in the A final in his new car. His goal was to make the A final, so he will leave Portugal a happy man. Still in the wars Clemens Meyer could not find a way past local man Mário Barbosa and will line up second on the grid for the C final.

Lars Øivind Enerberg was again fastest although in heat three champion Derek Tohill was only two seconds behind. This claims second on the grid for Tohill, ahead of Roman Častoral who has been going well all weekend. The only non-finish was David Nordgård who had driveline problems and didn’t leave the startline.
