Monster!

Doran’s ERC season energised by drink deal.

Energy drink maker Monster has selected Rallycross to form a part of its marketing activities. The American company officially entered the sport this morning in the second round of the European Rallycross Championship in Portugal where its newly signed athlete Liam Doran unveiled his KHM Citroën C4 ERC in the distinctive black and green Monster livery.

In addition to the coup of being chosen as Monster’s representative in Rallycross, Doran and the KHM squad played a master stroke in Portugal, presenting the C4 for scrutineering in its usual red and white colour scheme before then hiding it away in the awning and giving it a vinyl wrap. This morning at 1030 British Summer Time (1130 CET), with media assembled on the grid for what was described as ‘big news’ Doran then drove the re-liveried car to the grid to the general astonishment of those in the paddock.

“This is big, major. It’s Monster,” said Doran, “I’ve been chosen to do this and it’s everything I could ever have hoped for. It’s a three-year deal so I have the security of knowing what I will be doing and that I can focus on doing the job of representing Monster and getting results in Rallycross.”

Doran’s deal covers the European championship, American events and is a significant boost in his goal to earn an invitation to July’s X Games event in Los Angeles.
