Isachsen’s dilema

Pole and engine problems for champ.

The third heat was delayed when Frank Valle smashed his ex-Henning Solberg Fiesta VI in to the barrier on the exit of the Joker Lap section. Valle was okay, but repairing the fence took some time. When things resumed, Sverre Isachsen won his heat but only with steam trailing his car and a suspected head gasket failure.

The champion now has a dilema, try to revert to the engine used yesterday which was suffering a water pump problem that has been rectified, or gamble on the installed unit lasting six laps. “It’s very tight on time to try and change it, but if they run this one it could fail completely,” said engine builder Julian Godfrey who confirmed that the engine had got ‘very hot’. Isachsen set fastest time and will start on pole in the A final.

Elsewhere, Lars Øivind Enerberg locked up the TouringCar pole while Ulrik Linnemann was fastest in Super1600 to join Andreas Bakkerud on the front of the grid.
