Lydden open for business

2011 ERC season starts here

It’s an unnaturally hot day at Lydden where the temperature is in the mid-20s as the first round of the 2011 FIA European Championships for Rallycross Drivers opens for business. Scrutineering is now underway; those who are relaxed and ready for the coming event getting through the technical cheques early while in other places around the paddock the finishing touches are being added to cars.

The mood in the paddock is a little more chilled than it often is, the timing of this round on a holiday weekend lending the whole event a mellow air. Many teams had established themselves yesterday and the steady influx of the remaining runners this morning means that things have progressed smoothly and quietly as the day has progressed.
