‘Timmy Time’ in France as Hansen Jr. gets Supercar shot.

On April 13 the French MTechnologies squad released the news that Timmy Hansen, the older of the two sons of 14-times European Rallycross Champion Kenneth Hansen, is going to drive the 500+bhp Citroën Xsara Supercar of Marc Laboulle in the opening round of the French Rallycross Championship at the Circuit de l’Ouest Parisien at Dreux on April 23 and 24. It is the same Xsara that Davy Jeanney used to claim the 2010 French Rallycross title.

The Swede started his career in Karting, later changed to Formula BMW Europe racing and is set to compete in Formula Renault Eurocup racing in 2011. A couple of weeks ago the youngster became one of the twelve selected drivers to join the ‘FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy’. So far he has participated only once in a Rallycross event, in October 2010 at Pembrey in Wales with a Suzuki Swift owned by his friend Liam Doran. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to drive such a good and reliable car in one of the best national Rallycross championship series and with one of the best teams in France. Rallycross will be good for my education as a driver as this is an intense multi task motorsport with extremely powerful cars, combining gravel and tarmac surfaces, that requires quick reactions and smart moves,” said the 19-year-old.

Stéphane Orré, the principal of MTechnologies: “I see this event as a symbol of the strong existing links between the two companies, KHM and MTech, who are already partners in building cars. We are honoured by the fact that both, Kenneth and Susann Hansen trust us enough to agree for Timmy’s drive in one of our Supercars. The Xsara will be the perfect vehicle for this circuit and for a first time participation in Division 1. We are pretty sure that Timmy will be pleased with this car, and that he will learn a lot during the event. He can trust our team to support and advice him well, as we do with all our young drivers.”
